As many of you know, Memorial Hall has been a beloved centerpiece in our community for decades. This historic building has provided many hours of joy, excitement, and entertainment for all Melrosians. Unfortunately, Memorial Hall is in disrepair. While the city has received a generous amount of money for exterior repairs and renovations, many parts of the building still need attention.  Thankfully, a non-profit organization was created by Melrose residents to help raise that money. The all-volunteer Friends of Melrose Memorial Hall (FOMMH) are planning fundraisers to raise the capital needed.

The Gala at Memorial Hall, on October 14, 2023 featured a seventeen-piece big band, dancing and a performance by the Melrose High School chorus, all set in Old Hollywood style.  Attendees entered the hall by going up a red carpet to the gloriously restored front doors of Memorial Hall.

With the approval of the Memorial Hall Board of Trustees, the Friends of Melrose Memorial Hall will focus its fundraising on the repairs and renovations of the Grand Army of the Republic room(GAR) and all net proceeds raised from this event went for that purpose.  The Friends are now reviewing potential projects to sponsor with these funds.

This was an exciting event for a cause that benefits the entire community. Memorial Hall is an important landmark and historic gathering place in Melrose. We all love the building and what it means to the community. Please help us make the inside of Memorial Hall worthy of its place in Melrose’s past, present and future.

We look forward to your support and participation in future events that Friends plan on sponsoring!
